Majorca is a great destination to take the family for a holiday. It’s an island that is pretty much dedicated to tourism and there are so many beautiful beaches to spend time on, no matter which coastline you’re on.
But even children can tire of sand and sun, so for those times when they want to do something else, here are a few suggestions:
There are some fantastic dolphin shows to see at Marineland at Calvia. There are also sea lion and parrot shows as well, so it’s a real winner with animal loving kids. The marine zoo has been there for almost forty years, and as well as being very entertaining, it has some great educational programmes.
For more water-based fun, head to Aqualand water park on the south side of the island. There are some great flume and slide rides, and with names like The Grand Canyon and the Devil’s Tail, you know you’re going to be in for some high adrenaline fun! For younger children there are the kids’ areas of Dragoland, Polynesia and the Mini Park. While your kids go wild on the slides, there are plenty of places for grown-ups to relax and enjoy the sun.
A great adventure to take the kids on is to visit the Drach Caves – one of the most popular attractions on Majorca. You can take a boat ride on one of the largest subterranean lakes in the world and see amazing limestone stalactites and stalagmites as you travel along. There are three different cave chambers to explore – Cueva Negra, Cueva Blanca and Cueva Luis Salvator.
Finally, for a great day out take the family out on a glass bottomed boat tour from Cala Bona harbour to Cala Millor, Porto Cristo and Sa Coma. You’ll see some amazing undersea life from the comfort of the boat!
Holidays to Majorca are never dull, and you can pack as much or as little activity as you choose into the time you’re there.
