It’s the capital of Western Australia and as well as this, happens to get more sunshine that the vast majority of other areas in the country. Bearing this in mind, it doesn’t come as a surprise to see that Perth is always regarded as a tourist hotspot – particularly those tourists with families.

According to Lisa Dudzik, the opportunities for families are endless. As well as this, the climate of Perth means that it’s one of the few places in the world which is suitable to visit all-year round.

Taking all of the above into account, we’ve collected some of the best attractions to visit for those of you with children, to ensure that you get the best out of the city.

Soalwater Islands Marine Park

To be quite honest, you don’t even have to be traveling with children to take advantage of this first attraction on our list. As the name suggests, this is an area made up of several islands, with Penguin Isalnd and Seal Island being two favorites.

In relation to the former, little needs explaining. This is an island which is inhabited by tiny penguins, while children are given the opportunity to interact with them courtesy of a specially-built center.

Again, the name gives it all away with Seal Island and if you’re looking to find rare Australian sea lions – here’s your place.

As well as stumbling into animals at every opportunity, there are umpteen opportunities to take part in snorkeling, diving and fishing in the surrounding waters. As such, this is certainly an attraction that is going to satisfy families of all interests.

Perth Zoo

Staying on the subject of animals, what kids don’t like a trip to the zoo. With Perth Zoo holding over 1,300 different animals, it’s safe to say that there’s plenty to see and do. As well as the animals, you can mull around the striking gardens while there is also the opportunity to feed giraffe or engage in other eye-to-eye activities with animals.

Elizabeth Quay

This is one of the most interesting developments in the city, with Elizabeth Quay providing everything from a playground, dining, outdoor markets as well as various festivals through the year.

As such, it’s one of those attractions that has a “bit of everything” – there won’t be any disappointed faces.

Scitech Discovery Centre

While a lot of the attractions we have looked at so far are based outdoors to make the most of the wonderful Perth weather, this next one is a discovery Centre and can perhaps give you a little rest from the sun.

The Centre is the leading science education institution in Western Australia and will provide a family with all sorts of opportunities to get hands-on and delve into the world of science. Whether it’s through puppet shows or just interactive games, it’s something which often proves to be a favorite for all ages.

Additionally, the gift shop that forms part of the Scitech Discovery Centre is worthy of a mention. This houses some of the most interesting items you’ll find in the whole of Australia – it’s great for souvenirs if nothing else.
