All Aboard for Day Out With Thomas

All aboard! Thomas the Tank Engine™ is chugging into a station near you for Day Out With Thomas™: Leader of the Track Tour 2011. Thomas fans are invited to come spend the day with their favorite No. 1 engine. For over 65 years, children have been captivated by the courageous adventures of Thomas and his engine friends. During its 16th consecutive year, Day Out With Thomas will make stops in more than 45 cities in the United States and Canada and is expected to welcome more than one million passengers.

I had the chance to take my two younger kids and my nephew to see Thomas the Train and enjoy all the festivities at the Day out With Thomas Event at the Orange Empire Railway Museum. Talk about perfect timing, as we walked into the event we were just in time to see Thomas (real train that looked like Thomas and had moving eyes) pulling back into the station. We headed straight over to get in line for our 10:30 Thomas Train Ride. The kids were all running over to the train in ultimate excitement. The 10 minutes we waited to board the train seemed like hours to them as they jumped up and down begging to get on Thomas. Thank goodness we were in the front of the line. Above all the seats were images of kid’s favorite Thomas The Train Characters. We all found our seats and were quickly off. The kid’s faces were all glued to the window as the train ride took us on a lil’ journey.
After our Thomas ride, we went over and jumped at the bounce houses, went through an old train, took pictures on a kid train, took turns ringing the train bells, and then we ran over and pushed the buttons to send the old train crossing signs moving and making noise.

The kids worked up an appetite, so we decided to go and get some California Pizza Kitchen pizza. After eating we walked out to see a long line. As we came to the front of the line we were able to see Sir Topham Hatt. This was a big treat for the kids.

From there we went to listen and play at the Jules Music 4 Kids performance, where kids had the chance to dance to kid music and play with hula hoops. Then we saw animals at the petting zoo, got Thomas temporary tattoos, and played in the Kid’s activity tent (trains, tracks, coloring area, stamping area).

On our way out of the Day With Thomas Event we stopped to take a picture of Thomas, and noticed that there was also a line to take a close up picture with Thomas. I was sad we missed that line, but was still excited we had the chance to take all the pictures with Thomas that we did.

What a GREAT experience for the WHOLE FAMILY. I do recommend it to other Thomas The Train fans AND you don’t have to be into Thomas to have as much fun as we did. Definitely an affordable, FUN, and exciting day your kids will love.
