Hasbro Scrabble Alphabet Scoop Game Review & Giveaway

My kids really like playing games. So I try to find fun games the whole family can play, which is sometimes challenging due to the age span of my kids, UNTIL NOW. Let me share with you a really fun family family called Scrabble Alphabet Scoop.

Get ready to have fun and get silly with Scrabble Alphabet Scoop. This is a fun word game that allows the whole family to race to spell words.

The objective is to be the first player to successfully spell selected words by scooping letters out of the Scrabble Alphabet Scoop bowl.

How to play:

After setting up the game (with the soup bowl in the center), each player grabs a scooper and picks one play card. After choosing a play card, each person chooses which word they will try and spell. Players choose the word that best suits their individual word building level. This helps keep it fair and gives everyone a chance to win.

THEN all the players use their scoopers and grabs for the letters they need to spell their word. The first person to spell their word and call out “Yummy” and spells their word correctly, wins that card. The first person to collect 4 cards wins the game.

There are 2 little catches. There are 4 blank tiles in the pot, which can be used in place of any letter you are looking for. AND there is the 2 fly tiles. If you get a fly tile, you have to put back all your tiles and start over. :(

Thumbs up from my family.
This is such a fun game that we all look forward to playing. My 6 year old daughter always tries to form the word selection in 1. or 2. and my oldest (14) and my hubby and I use the 5. words. The big kids have to pick out the letters with out looking which letters are in the pot, while Yaya could see which letters her scoopers picked out.

Features I like:

  • I love that this is a fun game for the whole family.
  • Unique. It is different from any other game I have played before. The big kids (my hubby, older daughter, and I) are able to try hard to play and my 6 yr. still beat us many times.
  • Educational. It gets my daughter familiar with sounds, letters, and building words, which is what she is working on right now in first grade.
  • Quick. It is quick to set up and quick to play. Each round goes fast, which allows for more chances to win for all the players.
  • Ex. The scoopers are all the same size, which makes it fun and fair when players are reaching for letter tiles.

Scrabble Alphabet Scoop is perfect for 2- 4 players ages 6 and up. Retail $19.99 and is available Fall 2011 in mass merchandise retailers nationwide.

If you are looking for a great game to give as a gift this holiday season, for an upcoming birthday party, or for your family fun night, Scrabble Alphabet is perfect.
