With September being Head Lice Prevention Month, Fairy Tales Hair Care and Team Mom would like to share with you some Lice Prevention Tips.
- Teach Children to never share hats, combs, pillows or helmets, which can pass lice lice. Most lice is spread through head to head contact, lice can survive off the human head for 24-36 hours.
- Keep long hair up in a braid or pony tail to help minimize contact with infected surfaces.
- Do not wash hair every day. Lice can attach themselves easily to clean hair. Wash every other day to allow the buildup of natural oils, which coast the hair shaft and make it more difficult for lice to latch on to.
- Use hair care products that repel lice naturally with ingredients such as rosemary oil, citronella oil and tea tree oil.
- Be aware. Check your child’s head weekly under a bright light. If a gray or white speck is hard to remove, it is not dandruff.

~Tip your child’s head over and look at the base of the back of their hair line. Lice tends to congregate back there.
My thoughts:
I really like the Fairy Tales Repel line of hair care products. They work great just like all of Fairy Tales hair Care Products. The Repel line smells great, feels good, easy to dispense, assisted in making my daughter’s hair soft and manageable when brushing, AND the best part is the security of knowing we are taking organic preventative steps in ensuring my daughter doesn’t contract lice or bring it home. My daughter likes each product (the way it felt and that her hair didn’t hurt when I brushed it after using the Repel Products) just as much as I did, which made it even better. For us it is usually hard to find great hair care products (gentle and effective for kids) that will help de-tangle, clean, style and condition my daughter’s hair.
