You may have noticed a new look to my site.
I have wanted a new website look for a while now and after moving to WordPress, I was thinking “what a perfect time for a face lift”. I am so excited to finally be a WordPress blog with a fresh fun new look.
When getting ready to have my site designed, I had an idea of what I wanted it to look like. Being as picky as I am, wanting a design and much more done, AND wanting an affordable price I knew that Kaye from WAHMaholic Blog Designs was going to be the right person to help me bring my vision and wants to life. She did everything I wanted, asked, and MORE.
I wanted to lighten my site up a little bit, so I went with a white background. Being really into the fuchsia pink, black, and white color combination, I decided to go with these colors.
Here is what I wanted regarding my design:
- Fuchsia vines on a white background
- A lady with long blackish color hair, slightly darker skin, and slightly slanted eyes (to look like me)
- A new simple drop down navigation bar
- New social media icons. I wanted these to be unique and personal. I am part Hawaiian, so I chose hieroglyphic turtle for my twitter icon (I love turtles & what they mean in Hawaii & Tahiti), Hibiscus for my RSS feed (Hawaiian flower and reminds me of my Hawaiian Mom), and flip flops (I live at the beach and wear flip flops almost everyday) for my email icon.
- New title and sidebar font. I wanted a pretty cursive font like the one that Kaye from WAHMaholics used on her previous site design. So she gave me her font and used a new one on her site.
- Header with my site name in a frame
- Post separator
- My package came with a signature , button, and favicon, which was great because I needed these too.
What I wanted to improve my site:
- *I wanted my posts to be shortened so that I could have more than 5 posts show and it didn’t look so long
- *I wanted to see how many comments there were on the shortened posts
- *Retweet button (I asked for a retweet button and got so much more)
- *Footer with specific links. I REALLY wanted a site map (good for SEO & PR) and a home link to easily help readers get back to the top of my site faster.
Here are my before and after pictures
I could go on and on when it comes to what I think of Kaye (from WAHMaholic). I asked her so many times to change things, add things, questions, asked for ideas, asked for help, etc. She fixed/changed so many things that I asked for, did EVERYTHING I asked regarding my site and design, AND to top it off she did EVEN MORE.
I picked the design package I wanted and then added in the extras from the add on’s section of WAHMaholic.
My experience with Kaye, I would have to say “WOW, I am Impressed and will be back”. If you are looking for a great designer who is VERY affordable, I recommend you trying WAHMaholic Blog Designs.
