I am so excited. This summer (July) my family and I are taking a road trip to one of our favorite places. San Francisco. We haven’t had a family vacation since my second daughter was born almost 6 years ago. We thought what better place to go than to San Fransisco where she was born.
There is so much to do and see in San Francisco, from the Golden Gate Bridge, to Alcatraz, to Marin County where we lived, to the Fisherman’s Wharf and so much more. We are looking forward to seeing all of our old friends, showing our kids around, and seeing where their daddy went to school.
This has always been one of my favorite road trips. This will be our first trip with three active kids in the car.
Something we are definitely going to have to do is look activities and creative ideas to keep our small kids happy on this 8+ hour drive.
Here is some great road trip information.
According to family travel expert Emily Kaufman, “The TravelMom,” families are starting to think past the backyard “staycation”and are rediscovering the freedom of the open road. Kaufman sharesthe following tips for a fun and safe family road trip:
- Create a boredom bag. Convert a hanging travel cosmeticcase into a case full of fun and hang it from the seat back infront of the kids’ seats. Consider creating fun works of art withTwizzlers
Pull ‘n’ Peel Candy before snacking on them! - Take your trip “online.” From GPS systems to phoneapplications, trips are no longer a navigation nightmare.
- Think through the snacks you pack. Avoid packing snacksthat are easy to spill like juice boxes or snacks that melt. Tryplastic bottles with sports tops and bring along TwizzlersCandy or Twizzlers Nibs Candy – they are easy to share anddon’t melt, making them the perfect car ride treat.
