The story takes place in a workshop in Italy. A small mouse is intrigued with the violin and begins to play at night. The workshop owner saw this happen in the middle of the night and made his tiny new friend his very own violin, so that he could live his dream of playing the violin just his size.

I really like how this story uses bigger font so I was able to not only read it to my 5 year old, but also able to ask her to help me sound out some of the words. The parts of the violin are in bold words, allowing you to introduce your child to new words, which are parts to a wonderful musical instrument.
In the back of the book there are fun activities where these words (parts to the violin) will show up and be used again. Another great way to get your child involved with the story.
I like how there are big and unfamiliar words used throughout the story, which gave me the chance to talk to my daughter about what they mean. I enjoy trying to expand her knowledge and vocabulary and felt this was a great opportunity.
This is a great story about friendships, dreams, believing, being inspired, and size doesn’t always matter.
