What is the name of your blog and why did you choose your name?
Blog Name – A Year With Mom and Dad (formerly And Baby Makes Three!)
We chose this name because as new parents, we are no longer just “2” but now “3”! We chose the tagline because we want to share with our readers the events and changes that happen to us as we go through the first year of parenting (and beyond)!
How long have you been blogging?
I have a personal blog I started in 2005, but we just started our parenting blog in March 2010 a month after our baby was born.
Tell me about your blog.
Our blog is co-written by mom and dad. Mostly I (mom) do the writing, but dad helps edit, suggest ideas, and also writes a “Dad’s Log” column every once in a while. We started out just writing our thoughts and feelings about being new parents, then moved on to sharing tips, ideas and products that we love. So now, we are a mix of anecdotal posts, review/giveaway posts, and magazine-style articles directed at helping parents navigate the waters of new parenthood!
What do you like the best about blogging?
As an avid writer, I love that blogging gives me an audience to write for – and especially that my audience can connect with me and we share our thoughts via the comments, or posts on Facebook or Twitter. It makes writing so much more fun and motivating!
Do you have children? If so how many?
We have one baby – a 8 month old boy named Asher.
What type of products do you like to review?
We have been varied in our reviews, but mostly we like to review cloth diapering gear and any baby product that is high quality, fun, or helpful to new parents. But we occasionally review products that are timesavers for moms and dads, or are fun for families. From time to time, I’ll post a review of something that would help mom bloggers as well.
If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go?
I would go to the Caribbean – I have been once, and I just LOVE the water, the laid back lifestyle and the foods!
What else would you like people to know about you or your blog?
We love feedback on our blog – being relatively new to the parent blog scene, we are still growing our thoughts and plans for the direction we will take our blog in after this first year is over. I am open to communication and looking to make connections with other moms and other bloggers. Being a new mom is not always easy, and I want to be a blogger mom who supports other moms!
