What is the name of your blog and why did you choose your name?
Happy Deal – Happy Day! I recently had a huge transition from being a high school science teacher for 8 years, to a stay at home mom. I have always wanted to stay home with my kids once I had them, but I was feeling like I wasn’t being mentally stimulated enough now that I didn’t have a full time job outside of the home. I was also recovering from a pretty bad case of Post Partum Depression. I hated the gloomy winter and one thing that brought just a little more joy into my life was getting a great deal while out shopping. I’m a naturally competitive person, so deal shopping is kind of like a game for me – what is the cheapest price I can pay for an item? The cheaper I pay, the more I feel like I win. And who doesn’t love a great deal? It usually does make someone just a little more happy.
How long have you been blogging? About 2 and half months – I’m still very much a newbie.
Tell me about your blog.
It is a deal shopping/coupon blog. I was a big fan of other similar blogs, and one day it just kind of clicked that I could do that too. I was always telling someone about a great deal I scored, whether they wanted to hear about it or not. I thought I may as well tell as many that will read, via the blog!
What do you like the best about blogging? I love that I can set my own hours to work on it. I also love that I get to be the one telling a great way to save money.
Do you have children? If so how many? I have one daughter who is almost 1. Her name is Hannah.
What type of products do you like to review? Since I do have a 1 year old daughter, baby products are always welcomed items to review. I also recently got a Soda Stream that I will post my review on in the coming weeks. I’m pretty excited about that one!
If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go? The list is long of the places I want to see! But if I had to choose one place right now, I guess I would have to say India. I went there 3 years ago with a missionary couple I know to help hand out school supplies to needy children. They are working at a school and starting to build an orphanage this coming fall. I’ve told them more than once that if we can make it happen, we want to adopt and bring home an Indian child that needs parents! I’d love to go there again, and come home with a new addition to our family.
What else would you like people to know about you or your blog?
I like to add some non-deal upbeat funny blurbs. If you check out the “To Brighten Your Day” posts, you can see some cute/short videos I’ve posted. In fact if anyone has something they want to share with me to post, feel free to let me know!
